Matt Nippert - pontificating poet, Auckland

Thursday, April 07, 2005

I have been reliably informed that the correct plural for haiku is actually haiku - it being Japanese. But, if I wanted to anglicise it, haikus would suffice. (Thanks Patrick, and your email header "If you're a pedant and you know it ..." sums up my thoughts entirely.)

Never mind the apostrophes.

Considering the feedback I've had, I'm opening up the Fightingtalk haiku contest, with the best each week getting a run. Keep them topical, and humourous. New Zealand varieities preferred, but all welcome.

Here's one to get you started.
He bleeds red when cut
Why self-harm Tamihere?
Use staunch as a verb
